How to disable the USB port from registry

There may be situations where you may need to disable the USB, external harddisk, external CD-ROM, memory flash function which are using USB port without affecting the other peripherals that use USB ports such as keyboard, mouse, printer, scanner and so on.

The USB Port can be disabled from registry as shown below:

I . Click start>Run>Type regedit>Click OK
II. In registry Editor Windows go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR

III. Double click Dword Start (on the right) replace Data Value 3 to 4 then click OK – close registry editor windows. Now the USB function had been disabled

[Sometimes, You need to restart the computer to get the effect]

To restore the function of the USB repeat the steps above, and on the 3rd step just change the value from 4 to 3.
